What are the school hours?

School hours are from 8:00 – 2:20.

Where do I pick my child up during dismissal?

  • Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade dismiss on Ovington Street.
  • 3rd and 4th grade dismiss in the 12th Avenue school yard.
  • 5th grade dismisses on Bay Ridge Avenue outside of the small playground.
  • Late pick-ups will be in the auditorium. Please go to the back door on Ovington Street to enter the building for late pick-up.

Do I need to bring identification to enter the building?

Yes, to enter the building, you must have a picture ID with your current address. You will go in through the front doors and sign in with security.

Who do I contact if I have a concern about my child?

Please contact your child’s teacher first by:

  • writing a note and sending it to school with your child,
  • contacting your child’s teacher through Class Dojo or the Remind app,
  • e-mailing your child’s teacher, or
  • calling the school.

Does PS 176 have a uniform policy?

Students are required to wear uniforms everyday. The school uniform policy is as follows:

Girls:

  • White polo shirt (long / short sleeve); otter emblem
  • Navy bottoms (skirt, jumper, shorts, pants)
  • Navy cardigan or button-down sweater
  • Navy socks / tights

Boys:

  • White polo shirt (long / short sleeve); otter emblem
  • Navy bottoms (shorts, pants)
  • Navy cardigan or button-down sweater
  • Navy socks

WHAT IS AN INTEGRATIVE COLLABORATIVE TEACHING (ICT) CLASS?

Integrated Collaborative Teaching (ICT) classes have one general education teacher and one special education teacher. The curriculum taught meets the same high grade level expectations with the benefit of increased teacher support. ICT classes are comprised of 60% general education students and 40% students with special needs. Students in ICT classes can be on the general education or special education side.
